Course Description: Welcome to Psychology! In this course, we will peel back the curtain on the most complex organ in the known world: the human brain. We are going to explore the "why" behind our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors.

 

In this sweeping introduction to the field, you will get to see a little bit of everything. From dusting off historical characters like Freud and Jung to unpacking ultra-modern neuroscientific research, this is a riveting way to earn a high school science credit. You will walk away with a strong grasp of terminology and major theories, but my passion is also to help you in practical ways.

 

Throughout the year, you won't just be studying theories—you will be applying them to your own life and understand the people around you more deeply. By the end of this class, you’ll have a scientific toolkit for understanding what truly makes us human.

Jayson is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Hoover where he runs a private practice with his wife Kristina. Jayson has a master's degree from Reformed Theological Seminary in Orlando and has been practicing in Hoover since 2019. He and Kristina have 3 young children and are currently sharing teaching duties for homeschooling them. He has a love for connecting with students and creating a safe and playful environment to learn.
